I have 17 in. Nebula Rep's (IPD) with their BBK. I'm having to use 10mm spacers, which has proven to be a bit of a headache, as they are not hubcentric. So I just ordered a set of 15mm which are hubcentric. A short trip to the shop at work, and I'll turn down the backside to 10mm! problem solved.

I am not sure its going to be that easy. If you turn them down to 10mm, you are going to have a 65mm O.D. hub trying to fit into a 65mm O.D hub bore. You may need to leave them about 12mm. Just a suggestion.

Here is some research I have put together but just haven't had time or $ to go forward...

the 996 n/a calipers utilize a 322mm rotor, s60R rotors will not work

the newer gen s40 t5 has available 320mm brakes including rotors

the s40 has smaller hubs so the rotor hat will most likely need to be bored out a few mm

850/S/V/C70, S60/R, V70N 65.176mm hub
S40N/V50 63.4mm hub

being that the rotor is 10mm smaller you will also need to either get a pair of CJ's brackets and add an additional 10mm spacer pushing the caliper farther onto the rotor or have a new set machined with the additional material

i'll be interested to see if the n/a calipers combined with the s40 rotor will allow for volan clearance without spacers

Oh. Where were you a week ago with this info!!!! But think as I would have to buy brackets anyway I did not lose a lot cause if I bought here and there I would pay twice for shipping to Russia and it is expensive!

Any suggestions about 17" rims anyway? What else can fit IPD BBK without spacers except Pegasus Replicas with 38 offset?
and nothing else matters...

Just measured a Front R caliper I have sitting in the garage...I measure 35mm and 40mm, but I don't have a caliper handy so those numbers may be off by a millimeter or two...

Can't seem to find the original specs for the pistons...

Regardless, they are smaller than the 36mm/44mm of the 993TT/928GTS pistons...

36mm and 44mm.

Porsche 928GTS calipers (also known as "big blacks")
The part numbers for the front calipers are:
928-351-423-03 (left side)
928-351-424-03 (right side)
36mm/44mm piston sizes

(if you want to use these you will need to swap the bleeder screws & cross-over tubes - very simple)

The 993TT and 928GTS calipers will mount with IPD brackets, and will work with S60R rotors as well. The two calipers look very similar to each other. Depending on what wheel you are running, they might require spacers.

More info...I just got the big black 928GTS calipers and am in the process of installing them on my C70. I removed all the hardware from them to have them PC'd. Did some research to make sure they went back together correctly for use on my Volvo. The reason the bleeder screws and crossover tubes have to be swapped, is that when mounted on the 928, they were rear aft mounted. To run them on the front fwd mounted Volvos you have to swap them so that the smaller diameter piston hits first when the rotors are turning forward. If that makes sense. If not, there is also an arrow on the calipers to show you which direction the rotor should be turning. And even tho it's a "duh" I'll mention it anyways, the bleeder screws go on top.

Hi AverageVolvo

I didnt understand what you meant when you said "get them both and use the other one on the rear". :?

Also, I have read that other users have had 993TT calipers on with 17" Volans using 15mm spacers and are left with a gap of .6mm between the caliper and the spoke of the rim, and 996TT calipers being bigger than 993TT calipers, im not so sure bout 15mm spacers working. Thats why, i wanted to know from someone with first hand experience, maybe Johann?

Thanks

Joe

Hi everybody,

I like bringing back threads from the past, please bear with me.
I have acquired a set of 996 tt front calipers as well as a set of 18" oem pegs. Will I need spacers up front, and if so what size?

Also, can I use 336mm rotors from an xc90, or must I use 330mm rotors from a s60r?

thanks in advance
