Hey everyone,

I need help. I am on a trip far away from my trusted local mechanic. Just today I noticed that the fuel lines are hanging loose underneath the car. It looks like a cover or a couple of clamps fell off. I would greatly appreciate some suggestions on how to solve this so I can get back home and get it taken care of properly. Here are some pics:

Get some zip ties and find a secure point to hold them up, it'll hold you over til you can get back home.

I took a piece of plastic and cut it to fit the molding. Then used gorilla glue as an adhesive while using a block of wood to hold it in place while it dried.

Thanks for the useful suggestions. Right now I really don't have access to anything other than the zip ties.

An additional question: is there a cover or clamps that go over the fuel lines? It looks like it might have a cover that's designed to fit the shape of the undercarriage; there are about three screws that are visible, and look clean, which means that I must have hit something and the cover/clamps or whatever was holding the fuel lines up, fell off or was torn from the undercarriage.

Yes there is a cover that goes on there. I lost mine when I hit a puddle of water at 50mph. I used many zip ties to secure the lines to the protruding screws (the screws where the cover was originally bolted. With enough zip ties you can secure it very well.

this is funny that you've encountered this, b/c i ran over something which disconnected that covering as well, just last week...so you'd want to go to the dealer to order the covering, nd the nuts, which are barrel nuts, part #9141192, and the rings (9141191).

The nuts slide into the rings which then can be screwed into place while you are holding the covering up.

Yes these nuts have a screw head on them. W/o the rings you cant support the covering/guard.

I dont know the covering part # b/c i didnt need it but Im sure your parts ppl can find it if you giv'em the other two parts numbers. The nuts nd rings should come to 11 bucks.

Thanks for the advice. Indeed the cover needed the parts you mention. I got everything used and it worked like a charm.
My mechanic gave me an appointment for an oil change two days ago, and when I got there he had two or three other cars, with serious problems, and told me he didn't have time to change my oil. So, to compensate because he couldn't change my oil as scheduled, he gave me the oil filter (MANN), plug gasket, oil cap gasket, and the fuel lines cover with everything necessary to install it myself (he owns a Volvo-only junk yard), all for free, so I was a happy camper . Again, thanks for the input.
