And according to news reports in the past few months, even Europe has decried the depth and extent the US gov't has gone in involving itself in business/market/economy. Russian newspapers also have exclaimed how suddenly and precipitously the US has turned leftward into socialist policies. Hugo Chavez, perhaps somewhat cynically, also made note of it.

The UN Human Development Index is calculated using various indicators for quality of life, such as health indicators and access to healthcare services, life expectancy at birth, nutrition levels, education and literacy levels, access to basic needs such as water and sanitation, and so on. It also takes into account GDP per capita in terms of Purchasing Power Parity and percentage of the population living below the poverty line.

You should really figure out what your posting before you do so...
Human Development Index has nothing to do with healthcare as a matter of fact the fact that you posted as you did makes it easy to see your someone who just accepts what people tell them instead of looking shit up for yourself. HDI is about development of a country not about in anyway healthcare it is calculated on these principles. The HDI combines normalized measures of life expectancy, literacy, educational attainment, and GDP per capita for countries worldwide. Now, since we are on the subject can you tell me why we are falling behind on the HDI? Its very simple to understand once you pull your head out of your ass. Education, plain and simple education is where we are falling behind in leaps and bounds because of public education.

It's easy to account for 25 million in Canada vs 300 million.
I live in a town that has the lowest per student expenditure for education in CT. We rank top 10 in student performance. More money down a black hole don't fix stuff.
You figure it out.
SO with all that, any one of you want to move out of U.S.? Didn't think so.

I actually would love to move to Sweden, the only thing keeping me here is the people I know, not our flawed systems and corrupt government. At least in Sweden they welcome immigrants (well 95% of the population at least). And looking Swedish and having dual-citizenship helps too

Ok, placing your misdirected anger and judgement aside for a minute, I agree with your views on education, but how do you figure that the HDI isn't using "healthcare access and other factors" in it's calculation? It's stated in the mandate that they use those exact items, among other things in their calculations? Education may (in your view) be the main drag-down, but (access to) healthcare is still right in there. Discuss.

WOW.
If by "they," you mean an underwhelming minority of Canadians...then yes, they are!
Otherwise, you really couldn't be any more wrong on the subject. According to people that actually live there, anyway. It's funny to listen to Americans that try to teach Canadians about their own system. lol.
Of course, there will always be people speaking solely on behalf of their own experiences, regardless of whether or not their experience is indicative of the norm. But anyone who thinks the saving of lives should be a for-profit business is a couple IV's short of an ER. We are supposed to be the richest, most prosperous country in the nation...but we can't afford to give our citizens basic health care?!
Pathetic.
