[JC 855 GLT-R]

my 99 s70 na blows cold air in the beginning after starting the car but after about a 10 minute drive it doesnt blow cold or if you adjust the ac to a higher temp it stops blowing cold, then after shutting off the car for a few minutes and start it back up, its fine. also the electric fan keeps running after you shut the car off after a long drive. are these 2 related? any ideas of what causes the first issue?

i had exactly the same problem. been driving on the ghetto clutch gap fix and it has been flawless.

I may try either the bread clip fix or go even further and remove some shims from the clutch, I have the stuff to do it either way. I got a feeler gauge and the gap for the clutch is definitely too big(.8mm). I talked to 3 mechanics, 2 told me I was correct in trying to just go ahead and remove some shims. The third mechanic, my father-in-law once volvo tech, said I should have the system flushed and have new freon put in at the correct level, and that the clutch is not working because the temperature sensor on the compressor is reading a temp too high for it to work. Anyone have any thoughts? I don't mind doing the bread clip fix as a temporary test, but I also do not want to screw up the system any further by doing so. Not too sure what to do now, but as a penny pinching college student I don't have the cash to get involved with a new compressor and other components.

I just had this done on my 2000 NA V70. Did the bread clip fix last summer which got me through the end of the year, then just had the clutch pulled and had one of the shims shaved down to put the clutch gap back in spec. I'd try the bread clip fix and see what it does.

Shim the compressor cluth. It works.

the 99 uses a different compressor then the 98's so the easy fix is out. how else can you shim it?
