I test piles of fuel samples every month usually for friends. And e15 makes a huge difference in storage life. Let get some facts here.

1. 850 Volvos are not sealed tanks.
2. Lawnmowers are no sealed tanks.
3. US spec portable DOT jerry cans are not sealed tanks.
3. In ground fuel depot tanks are not really sealed. They use 2 way pop offs to handle expansion pressure and vacuum as fuel is pumped out. A lot also use vapor recovery to save money. Vapor recovery condenses vapor out of the air along with a lot of moisture.


I have tested samples of fuel right off the terminal, not even at a station yet, and had it fail. All our fuel here comes in on barges. They constantly circulate air to keep the A/F under the ignition threshold. All that aid is sea air. Now factor in these are steel hauled vessels. Over the last 10 years as ethanol content has gone up so has moisture. Not sure why you think adding ethanol would not increase water content but you have been mislead.
