Well, my 'new' '96 855 Turbo (100K miles) had an incident tonight. While pulling into a driveway, a bicyclist on the sidewalk ran into the side of my car. The high impact contact happened right in front of the driver door and mashed in the fender. The door opens, but hits the sheet metal now and doesn't open all the way. I would like to remove the fender and replace it with the fender from my parts car.

I'm just wondering if anyone has quick, simple experience with where all the points of connection for the fender are. I know about the 10mm bolts on top and I know that the wheel well plastice will need to be removed, but what else will I run into?

The bicycle got munched, but the rider was ok, BTW.

Thanks
Kirk

header panel to fender has bolts, under the side of the bumper has 2 bolts, and i think 2 bolts behind the door.

After you remove the 10mm bolts under the hood, and the fender liner, there are also some 10mm bolts that are located on the header panel, and on the inner edge of the fender which need to be removed (you can access them by opening the door and using an extension). After that the fender should come right off.

Edit: Under the bumper too it seems ;) .

Ok, just for record if anyone else needs to do this - there are:

11 bolts that need to be removed

5 - on top of fender (easy)
2 - on the rear panel of the fender - accessed via door (easy)
1 - bumper bolt - accessed from under the car mid fender (pretty easy)
1- support bracket inside the bumper near the wheel (sort of a pain) I did this one last and could move the fender around enough to get access
1 - bolt and nut behind turn light accessed from below the car (pretty easy)
1 - behind the upper part of the turn signal (easy) The turn light is held in place by a spring that allow you to move the whole turn assembly out of the way

Now, there is also a metal strap near the lower bolt/nut behind the turn signal. I just cut the strip and will ignore it, but it does look like there is a nut that could be taken off that holds the strap. I'm not sure how you would access the nut though.
