If anyone has a working AC they would like to part with for a reasonable price hit me with a PM. The clutch on my unit went out and it is making a very unhealthy sound.

Not trying to scare you away from this just wanted to throw in some thoughts.
For one your sound is extremely similar to mine when the bearings in my A/C compressor were on the way out.
Let me tell you and I've had all this crap out twice myself (new A/C compressor, new alternator)........it is a pretty simple job but VERY time consuming just do to the location of certain things. There are also ALOT of bolts, nuts and brackets as well. Typically an A/C compressor will die out or get tired, depending on how it was used/how often around 125K/150K. That is the typical mileage the dealership gave me when I had the sound diagnosed.
For the time it takes and the effort the job requires I would pony up and buy brand new if I were you. I got mine on FCP for roughly 350, it came ready to install and their service is always spectacular. I imagine DW would be a bit cheaper but then you'd have a core charge where as FCP does not ask for one for a compressor.
Just a thought......good luck w/ whichever route you choose.
PS..........If you love your A/C, you will love having a fresh n new compressor, what a difference it makes in temperature and overall A/C performance. I can literally make the car feel like an ice box........i went on a 45 min. trip one day and decided to run the A/C at medium speed the entire way. I took a thermometer with me and measured 58 degrees F when I got there.
THAT BITCH WAS COLD!
