It's on the road, which means, it got its first cleaning in who knows how long.

Added some new spark plugs yesterday after the wash. Hell of a difference. The old Volvo plugs were SHOT. Replaced with Bosch Plats. This weekend I put on about 50 miles for my road test.

After about 50 miles it was obvious that the brakes need serious attention as well as the front wheel bearings. Overall a good buy.

Little update for those of you who don't care. The $200 car has effectively doubled in cost thanks to FCP Groton who some how manage to sneak into my dreams

With the replacement of a Hub Bearing and the pending install of suspenders the tally sits at $400

So front and rear sedan door panels should swap over to my wagon, no prob. Good to know. mine are beat up.

Dumped some more money into this beast.

New tires, front and rear suspension and an alignment scheduled for Saturday.

Also some new audio goodies.

Well. Had to cancel the alignment, since the springs still haven't showed up.

Just a small pile of money sitting on my table instead of under my car.

Springs finally came. Assembled the new struts last night while watching Big Bang Theory Season one.



(Not torqued yet. Waiting on my strut nut tool)

Suspenders will be finished this Saturday.

Update time.

Busted my hump and installed the following components on Saturday while I had some time at the shop.

Control arms w/ ball joints
outer tie rods (forgot to pick a second inner)
Struts assemblies with ver 1 IPD springs and new hardware
Rear Dampers and mounts

One bolt holding the ball joint to the knuckle was bent and killed over an hour and a half of my time. There fore I didn't have time to install the rest of the goods before the shop closed.


Only a few pics as I was strapped for time. Only had the phone with me so no good pics.












Still have the upper trans bushing, lower trans mount, PS cv (for good measure) and rear springs to install.


Had my snow tires replaced and the shop told me my recently replace hub is already toasted. FCP was dope as usaul and replaced it.

Car should be in tip top shape.

So the alignment was finally finished.

The car feels just amazing, and smooth. I spec'd 195/50-15 Rubber all around and the combination lends itself to a very confident ride with precise handling, as far as Volvo wagons go.

Installed upper transmission poly bushing from IPD. Shifts are much better now, a very noticeable benefit, and only a slight increase in NVH at idle.

Now it goes Vrooooooooooooooooom.




Still have a few details to fab up , like a brace, remount the cold air intake, a heat shield and a new batt tie down.

All in, all it works fine and sounds much better.
