So my alternator died today and I made it 12 miles on battery only.
I can report that the car runs strong all the way up to 9.5 volts and then the ABS lights come on.
The car finally died somewhere between 8-8.5 volts while I was sitting on my street waiting for my mom to move the other car out of the driveway.
Needless to say I'm pretty impressed.
Now to go find an alternator...
It was 90+ degrees here today.

Update:
So only eEuroparts seems to have it for about $230ish. I will probably call waltrip tomorrow but I doubt it will be much cheaper.
Here is a question though, my boss at work who's been a Volvo guy for a looong time said that if I have the Bosch alternator that I can just change the brush packs. It looks like I do have the Bosch alternator according to eEuroparts has anyone else ever heard of this and if so where can I get the brush packs?
And can someone pull the part number off vadis for me please? 2001 S60 2.4t.

Who Needs 12 Volts?

Sure the alternator is bad?
I've seen a battery with a shorted cell cause the alternators to not charge in P2 models.
Might have it tested just to be sure or swap in a known good battery to confirm.

Yes just the brush packs can be replaced, IIRC they are $130ish maybe a little less. Give your local dealer a call, I think most have them in stock.
