i cant seem to get my waterpump to quit funking leaking. paper gasket, seepy seepy. put some rtv on the gasket and seemed good but, no, just a slower seepy seepy. thinking of trying the "right stuff" instant gasket. anyone else had a similar problem?

How well did you clean the surface off after taking the original off?

quite well as the engine was out when i initially put the water pump on. once installed and fluids added, the leak revealed itself.

Are you using an OEM gasket?

I had good results with blue RTV + an OEM gasket.

I had this issue with my S70 a few months back when I did the timing belt. I only used the gasket and only a bit of rtv to hold the gasket inplace. I used a HEPU water pump, I've noticed that the supplied bolts were shorter then what I took out of the ASIAN pump. None the less, I cringe when I say this myself, but I didn't feel 15 ft-lbs was tight enough. I stepped it up to 20, less of a leak, more like seepage, then I went to 25ft-lbs. Leak gone, bone dry.

I'm not advocating over torquing your bolts, just saying I took that risk, and it worked for me.

justa thought

My seepage was coming from the drive turbine which is a seeled unit.

I replace the complete pump and have had no problems with gasket or fitting etc has never leaked since.
