so i had the car up on the lift today, and had always figured that the 2 O2 sensors i had were before, and after the cat. i'm just poking around and i see one before the cat, and IN the cat......WTF?? i know 98's are kind of a split year for a lot of things but i never knew of an O2 sensor IN the cat. i have a magnaflow cat sitting on my floor, staring me in the face waiting to get installed, but i'm not sure how to go about replacing the stock cat if the sensor is in it? and how will it affect the aftermarket cat?

My 98 C70 sensors are in the same location. Placing a "spark plug non fouler" onto the sensor and having it welded just before the cat should work.

It can only achieve unicorn status if it is HPT :)
Trust me it doesn't matter what kind of car, they keep it quiet when they lose to a Volvo. :D
You do realise your car needs 5 lol :p

Corey, I was taken by surprise when I was watching the shop remove my stock front half exhaust for the OBX dp and 3 in. high flow cat upgrade.
We pondered around for a little and then decided to remove the angle in bung from the middle of the stock cat and transplant it into the new setup, right before the cat.
This made sense because the angle in bung shoots the sniffer downstream.
I have not had a single check engine light or problem related to this modification since it was done ~last October or so.
Also, some say you may need to extend your rear o2 wiring......this was false in my case.
If you need more info. just let me know.

On my EST DP with race cat, it came with the O2 bungs before and after the cat and I've had no CEL since the installation over 5k miles ago. Put the bungs before and after the cat.

or you could just get the Magnaflow CAT with the O2 bung in it. It is like this on the 97 LPT also.
