The car starts and runs for a while, then it starts to cut out after about 10 minutes or so until it finally dies and does not start again for some time. Then the cycle is repeated, also worth noting the check engine light comes on right before it dies. I have replaced the high pressure fuel pump and the pump relay. Any suggestions?

Have you tried checking to see what code it gives you?
OBD 1 is stupidly simple.

OBD1 is the diagnostic equipment.
It pre-dates the pkug in computers and it's a black box you access, then you basically count out the flashing lights.
I can't remember the exact procedure unfortunately.

I had a 93 a while back that did kinda the same thing, it turned out to be the ignition module. It is mounted on a heatsink on the fender wall just before and above the battery. Heat is known to cause these to go bad, mine would run fine on short trips around town but on longer drives it would die intermittently.
