Swapped my 16T back on and the smoking is gone so seems pretty clear the rebuilt turbo is at fault.
Hoping L8apeks will respond shortly and let me know how he wants to proceed since I bought it on his GB.

oh-oh...he's had my 16T just over 5 weeks, building a 19T from it. This doesn't sound good :(

Had the 18T rebuilt and had the compressor cover re-machined. Haven't heard from L8 apeks yet, no response here or at turbo bricks. He hasn't been logged on VS since June 1 so I don't think he's even aware of this issue.

Turbo is back on the car and no more smoking now. $200 out of pocket but I guess it could be worse.

Pics to follow...

I believe he is back today and that he moved at the end of last month. Or, I gathered that from another thread.

Went out for a shake down run yesterday, so far all is well. Resisting putting my foot in it so I put stock map in the car until the motor breaks in. Running 8psi and it feels really strong and smooth.

The remaining to do list:
Cut and buff the body, wax it.
Apply the ST vinyl decal.
Finish door lock wiring
Hang the door panels
Upholster the headliner with new material

Decide on putting the R spoiler on or leaving it stock.

R spoiler would look nice, can't wait to check it out. Did you get your turbo issue sorted?

Have decided to do something custom rather than just put an R bumper on, already at the body shop getting reworked.

nice! i think a nice little black 5 series trunk spoiler/lip would look hot!

similar to this, would be nicer if it went the entire length of the trunk and was straight, but thats my opinion.

Will respray the hood once the bumper is done at the body shop, cut and buff the body this weekend.

Door panels are now all installed, and have the steering column put together and complete.

Passive keyless is installed and I'll put up a vid showing how that works.

New headliner this weekend.... pics forthcoming.

Paddle shifter is complete as far as circuity and board layout. Initial firmware is written, i'm sure they'll be some updates as time goes by.
Pulling the steering wheel next week to get buttons put in.

Looking really nice Lucky! I would add the R bumper and add a newer style slash to the grille but personal tastes are subjective.
