Today i had noticed the passengers side light in the rear wasnt as bright as the drivers side. the one that turns

on when you turn the lights on so i took the cover off (the one in the trunk lid) and saw a bulb missing from the

light pack i buy a bulb and it wont go in then i noticed the spot were the bulb inserts was never cut out is that

normal? what should i do drill it out? but i dont want plastic dust in my light. any ideas?

Not sure the if the s70s are different but with 850's there is no illumination on the trunk part of the rear lights- its just reflectors- anyone have any speculation?

The driver's side has a bulb there for your rear fog light. There should not be one on the passenger side. It would be reversed in Europe where they drive on the left side of the road. That's why the hole isn't cut out.

actually i'm pretty sure in europe they run both fog lights, US DOT says that if both are on, people will think they are brake lights. but isn't that the whole point of having an extra bright light back there? to have people aware that you are in front of them? 2002+ audis (US spec included) run both fog lights too. i'm pretty sure there is a thread in Bay13on how to do it.... its not that hard anyway. pretty self explanatory

+3, it is the rear fog light, US spec is for no second bulb there.

So if there is truly a difference in brightness (check it: are both bulbs usually on, on the driver's side?) and this isn't actually just a case of you noticed there is no second bulb, the difference may be because your fog light is permanently on. I would check the switch (maybe it is simply turned to "on" lol) or the wiring.

A common mod is to pull the housing out of a driver side tail from the junkyard, put it in the passenger side, then you can run both bulbs when you flick the rear fog switch.
