I don't think I want to go too crazy. A solid 300hp would do me fine. I plan on doing a lot of track days and big HP just means higher speeds and bigger mistakes. Deep down, I wish my car would just disappear and I would buy an E30 instead
You know the saying about bringing a knife to a sword fight, that is what I feel like in a 3400lbs FWD car on a road course. I am planning to swap in an M56 and Quiaffe next spring but when you combine that with all this I start to wonder about putting THOUSANDS of $$ into a car that is only worth 3-4K.

The silly things we do.....

Well, if you wanted to Turbo an E30 Rob at Auto Revolution is your guy! I have also been playing tennis in my head as to build the engine, or sell up and move on to an 02 Audi S4 thats coming up for sale in april? Those engines are good for 550hp before rods ect.. AWD drive+++. IMO the best bang for buck!

welcome to the wonderful world of auto enthusiasts.

Get a project car if you feel that way about it. Many E30s can be had for 1500 or less. It's something to look into if you're seriously thinking about having a track car. You really want that to be your DD as well?

My S70 is a perfect DD for me, a good amount of power, luxury that I need, and full interior. Anyway, food for thought.

If it has the same crank and rods wouldn't the LPT have taller pistons to raise compression?

Yes

With good rods and pistons (I believe OEM pistons are forged?) higher compression would defiantly be a benefit.

Years ago there was a crx in hot rod magazine that had 15:1 compression and ran 32psi. :o

For the next couple of years I will be living in a small condo with 1 parking space. That means DD=Track car=Winter car.

It also means that my car can't have any downtime. Not a fun sittuation for a car enthusiast. Funny thing is I bought my old S70 because I sold off my fun car 1987 Porsche 944S and figured I would stay away from fun cars while I was in the condo. Little did I know that these cars can be fun. A couple of months after that I was doing track days in my family car.... B)

I guess I can't force change. Now I am in the wierd spot of having a big heavy automatic FWD Daily Driver that I want to use for track days. :P

Silly me for buying all these mods before I realized that I should have sold the car and bought something more appropriate.

Now that the OBX is installed and I have stripped out the SAS system I don't think it will be very easy to sell.

So, if you can't sell it then why not turn it into what it needs to be.

M56+Quaiffe+18T sounds like it FUN - Just need an engine that doesn't blow oil out the dipstick tube.....
