
Hid'S Aren'T Firing Up Every Time

Just installed HID's in my fog lights, already have them in my low beams, but the fogs don't fire up every time I switch them on once they don't fire, they won't fire again for a while. Both kits are 35w and the only other after market draw in my car is an ipod adapter and boost gauge. So my question is what's up?

Double check your connections, might have them hooked up wrong or a loose connection. Thermal overload shouldn't be tripping since there not on and getting hot, might have a bad ballast set.

If they were hooked up wrong they wouldn't fire at all, loose connection wouldn't happen in both of them at the exact same time

check your headlight switch. often the metal contacts in there become corroded and they loose connection. happenened to me and this fixed it

I had a similar problem to this. They would flicker for about 10 seconds then stay on. I wondered if it had to do with connections/switches, etc. Turned out I needed a new battery. Maybe that's your problem?
The ballasts drain a lot of juice and if your battery was old to start with it might not be as good as a new one is at holding a charge.

So HID's draw off your battery when your car is off?
I just installed them about a week ago and the other day my car didnt start up good...It was a little sluggish.

The are not rean in series, they are wired in parallel I've ran with one fog light out, it happens all the time. I switched to HIDs so I wouldn't have the normal corrosion problem with the metal inside the fog connectors and always have one going out.

The ballasts ld a lot of the charge that is generated from the battery/alternator. It then ramps up the output to suit your HID's.
Make sure you've got a solid battery and you'll be fine. Putting HID's on an old battery will kill the battery and you'll be boosting it every time it gets cold out
