i'm sorry this is the second thread about my T-5, but i hadn't updated the last one since February & the thread had locked itself (i assume its an automatic feature of the forum). Anyway in the last thread i'd just started to strip the interior out, the story continues below

yes i know its a mess, but i've still got more to do in the engine bay so not spent much time on it yet

a total of 263kg (579.8pounds) removed, thanks for looking

Engine Spec:

S60R exhaust manifold
19T turbo
Forge Motorsport recirc valve blanking plate
Ferrita 3inch Stainless steel downpipe
QTP exhaust cut-off valve
polished & internally modified Volvo 960 throttle body
3inch stainless steel reverse flow intercooler pipes
3inch stainless steel intake pipe, including 3inch MAF sensor housing
Apexi AVC-R boost controller
vac hoses replaced with internally braided hoses
7mm double silicone HT leads
TWE oil catch tank
Powerflex top engine mount
Powerflew wishbone bushes
VW Vento horns
front panel & scuttle panel removed
Powerflow stainless steel exhaust back-box with twin exit (one each side)
CCR cone filter
battery moved to boot using Nolan engineering alloy battery tray
throttle wheel cover removed
spark plug cover removed
radiator under tray removed
Volvo strut brace
Volvo 302mm brake conversion
Black Diamond braided brake hoses
Volvo lowered chassis option (30mm lower)
fan bypass switch
under bonnet sound insulation removed
DRE sequential shift light
launch control (automatic with manual bypass)
full throttle gear-change
fuel injector rail cover removed
EVAP system & carbon canistor removed
bonnet hinges, springs, catches, cable & lever removed
excess wiring removed from loom (including repeator lights, aircon, cruise control, headlight wipers etc)

Interior:

Dino leather 3 spoke steering wheel (with Momo boss)
custom carbon fibre steering wheel centre
all switches moved to box unit by handbrake
gear level shortened by 1.5inches
Race-X gearknob (colour coded & chrome
Race-X Alloy pedal grips
Cobra Monaco S bucket seats (passenger side on quick release mount)
Raceland clip-in 3 point harnesses
non-turbo gauges (including higher range rev-counter)
everything else removed, including carpets, dashboard, sunroof, excess wiring etc

Exterior:

T-5R front bumper with chrome mesh grill & intercooler vents
private registration plate reading “BIG T5R” or “BIG TOSSER”
headlamp wipers removed & under headlight panels replaced
RGM headlight eyebrows
day running lights disconnected
front fog lights removed
LED sidelight bulbs
S70 washer jets
single windscreen wiper conversion
quick release bonnet pins & hinges removed
S70 fuel filler door
custom TWR pinstripe decal & window graphics
1995 spec rear lights & inner boot panel
passenger side front door handle de-locked
8 x 18 Fox R4 alloy wheels with 215/35/18 tyres
rear bumper modified for extra tailpipe
SAAB 900 rear spoiler
Perspex side windows
wheel arch linings removed
front mud guards removed
USA spec front wing badges, replacing repeator lights
Nordic design mesh bonnet grill
GP2 wing mirrors
Boot badges, hinges & shocks removed. Boot lid now secured with catches

I hope you left your front fender liners in... those are important.

I really dont think the speed holes in the R bumper were worth the weight savings. But you definitly seem dedicated.

How much of a difference weight wise would it have made to just leave the rear bumper on there, and not cut holes in the front? Probably not much. And it would have looked 100000x better. But then again doesn't seem like looks are high on your priority list. Might want to consider getting smaller wheels too if you're serious about going fast.

But props to you for taking on a project most here would never try. Hope it works out.

lol thanks, i was more thinking of getting a bit more air to the intercooler than the weight removed from the bumper (but every little helps lol)

the rear bumper cover is going back on once i've finished cutting up the internal reinforcement so will look stock again

How will you ever pass MOT that way ? :blink: Or is the car off the road for good ?

Impressive work, it definitely needs some loose ends tied up and needs to be 'cleaned up' but the mod list is impressive!

no it should still pass an MOT, all the lights still work & still got the very basics it needs for the test. I have got to replace the windscreen, make some door cards & i think its ready

You could still ditch power steering to save some more weight. The pump weights around 15lbs + Added 1000HP


Any Numbers like before and after 0-60

thanks for the idea. I had thought about it before but hdidn't look to hard into it tbh, i'm not sure what you'd do about the piping & rack if i did remove it. Do i drain all the fluid & leave the pipes open or block them up with fluid in the rack?

Not much, just complete internal engine destruction when a rock makes its way between a pulley and the belt and it skips or tears...

I like the direction of the car but a few things are kinda sketchy

it'll be mainly used on the 1/4mile. I am keeping it road legal so can do the odd run to work & play about at the weekend. One of my other goals is to take it round the Nurburg ring as well
