and like i said, throw the right amount of cash at anything and you can make a race car

how many people over the pond make mod these cars into decent ring competitors

i'm not saying its the best choice but its no where near the worst

they are not trash, the 1.9 is solid, however the charger isnt. I prolly had one of the first g60 swaps in an MK2 GTI, now that was quick

The Corrado ain't the greatest track car either...only thing it really has going for it is relatively light weight.

Though I gotta say...at least with my Redblock...I DID think a 13.9-14.2 was very good for what it was - a total sleeper grandpa sedan, with a 4 banger and a slushbox, with about 1500 bucks in aftermarket parts.

This was also on a stock 200,000 mile engine and transmission. I can't think of ANY other marque that sells ANY model that would have that kind of resilience.

So I'm not gonna go dissing the Volvos either. Race cars? No. Decent platforms for tuning? Sure.

Sorry Jaxx...but that car was daily driven for about 4 years, raced often, and never broke down once. The car was free, and the mods totaled 1500 bucks. I sold it with 205k miles, running excellent. So I consider that saying a general rule, which has its exceptions. 13.9 may not be fast compared to a C6 Vette, but to go from 16's to 13's or to drop 3 full seconds in ET's for 1500 bucks is damn respectable for ANY vehicle!
