Ok, currently installing a GSS-342. Pump installation is pretty straight forward, but I've got two questions. The stock pickup does not fit on to the Walbro. I was going to use some plastic epoxy to glue it on there, but I'm not sure of the effects the gas tank will have on it. How have others installed their pickup? Did you modify it or get a new pickup? Also, the stock negative terminal is smaller to avoid mixing them up. Easy enough to solder a new proper size terminal on, but I'd be afraid to throw it in there without any kind of insulation. Can you just put regular heat shrink insulation on it? Also worried about the effects of gas on that. Other than that it looks like everything goes in as it should. Any other tips from those who have already installed a Walbro pump would be appreciated. Thanks.

Gas won't corrode the wire like water would. Though, you want to insulate it to they wires won't sort themselves, butt end connectors worked fine for me.

I also had to shave the inside of the housing just a little because the walbro was a little fatter. I can't remember the wiring, but i think i used the stock connections

I can't take a picture of the Walbro because I've already re-installed it. But I will snap a picture of the stock pump and show you what part was a different diameter.
Wasn't worried about the corrosion, like you said, just the bare wires next to each other. I put some standard heat-shrink insulation on them both, stock only has plastic on the negative. So far so good.

I ordered part # GSS-342 from Summit. I didn't see any kits online, except one site that said the kit was for an F-150 Lightning. Didn't order that one, but I guess I should have. Nothing came with mine. Mine was also a slightly smaller in diameter than the stock pump. Maybe the 70 series had a revised pump.
FWIW I epoxied the stock pickup unto the Walbro, and everything has worked fine thus far.

Personally I would buy from an authorized dealer, lots of fakes out there.

I'm going to thread jack here... Where is the best source to get the 255 pump, with a screen? Those who have used it, did you need to shorten the length of fuel line? Thanks!
