So this PM I warm the car up, back outta the drive, put the pig into gear and boom! Flashing arrow and CEL. Last night she ran great. What happens to a car sitting for 17 hrs?
Now this really blows cuz my OBD jumper wire broke right at the probe so I can't fix it to read the fucking code. I've bout had it with these cars. GM pickup here I come.

Yeah, I noticed no reverse lights lately. I still can't clear the code tho.

Trying it now. Thanks.

In a pinch to get the code to clear you can remove the negative cable and touch it to the positive terminal for about 1 min. If the fault is permanent this won't work.

Wellll...

Ran that shift lever backnforth like 40x, and lo and ihatevolvos, the arrow stopped blinking. CEL still in effect tho.

PNP switch needs replacing? Another $150 into the hole.

That throws a code just by being there?

Thanks, today was not going well, at least thats off my mind, for now.

Not battery terminals!!!

I'm dumb but not... never mind.

Off to a junk yard unless someone has a junker with the probe and wire intact.

nothing beats my old 240. If it was below 0 the speedo would act like it was on crack, I'd be doing 140mph up the onramp

It might, but normally a 96 has OBD II, and not the LED reader under the hood.

Look under the hood front passenger side. Theres a little box by the ECU container, with a wired jumper and 2 sets of terminals/ holes, and an LED, under the covers.

I have this theory on PNP's...

Since one of the fixes is to ratchet the shifter effectively sort of cleaning the PNP I find myself gate shifting the trans a lot, dropping into 3 or L to hold a gear or use the engine to slow the car down a bit. With this gate shifting I'm constantly moving the shifter and so far (knocks on wood) my PNP has been fine for a long time. So basically gate shifting is keeping the PNP fresh

Nah, I'm doing that more lately, so I'll pay attention. I still don't get reverse lights tho.

I call him Joey Fat-one, he looks pretty slim in that pic. The sense of humor on these boards is limitless, another reason i like this site. My wife often thinks I'm nuts laughing out loud when I'm on VS.

Ok so who is in the back seat, and when am I getting my pie? I wish I was good at photoshop, I'd never turn off the PC.
