how much tranny fluid do i need for my 03 S60 2.4T with geartronic ?

recommended fluid (nearest volvo dealership is 1h 15m away) ?

the technique i've used before (on other cars) is to connect extended lines to the tranny cooling lines (the ones that go from the tranny to the fluid cooler) , then put the push line in a 5 gallon bucket and the pull line in another 5 gallon bucket thats full of new fluid , then start the car and let it pull the fresh fluid through the tranny till the fluid exiting is fresh clean new fluid , then reconnect the lines and top it off if needed

good technique or do you guys suggest a different method ?

You will need to flush with about 12qts. Use Volvo fluid or Mobil 1 3309.

I use a funnel to fill through the dipstick tube and only remove one tranny line. It will pump out faster than you can put in, so you will need to turn the car off several times.

Here is the IPD how to. You can use Volvo 97340 but its a waste of $$$, Mobil 3309 if you can find it on the shelf or any of these others Toyota T-4, Amsoil ATF and I've just noticed this weekend at AutoZone a new Mobil 1 synthetic ATF. It seems everyone is making fluid to work in the AW55 gearboxes now.

I'd stick to the tried and true, pump out 2, then add 2 quarts. Mobile 3309 or Toyota IV only unless you want to pay the max and get Volvo (which is the same stuff just marked up). I see lots of new stuff saying it will work, but you'll only save a buck or so a quart. We have hundreds of success stories using the above. Why risk it? However, if you do, let us know in 50K miles how it worked out. Who knows, perhaps we can learn?

I do it the ipd way. Pump two out and add two through the dip stick. I did 12 qts. However, at the prices of those fluids, we are talking close to $100 in fluid!!!!! I noticed that everyone on here seems to dexron iii. IDK if it is bad to use those on the gear tronic trannys, but I use it on my 99. Works great and was $29 a case:)
