Hello all, Its been a while sense i have been able to get on the forms. Nice to be back though :P

Alright well here is what is going on. I have a 98' S70 GLT, and i have been looking for a good upgrade to do. I posted a questions on here about remapping my ecu, but many people told me that the best thing to do it just buy a T5 ECU, 16T turbo and white injectors. SO i have been looking around and i found a guy who is selling the ecu, injectors and turbo for around $80 a pop. He said hes parting out the car so hes selling it all cheap. I dont know how many miles are on the car, but im guessing its not outrageously high.. I asked him about the injectors on the car and he told me that they were orange injectors that he put on that "are hotter" and he had the ecu updated for it. My main question is, will it work if i stick them on my GLT? the cars are both 98's and auto.. so as far as i can see i think it will be fine as long as the ecu is updated to know those injectors are on, which he says he had done in summer of 08. So that's really my only question in this..

if you have anything to add, or say about if this is good or bad idea let me know cause im still open to doing a normal ecu upgrade. Any thoughts would help. Also if anyone has done anything like this, how well does it work, and what kind of specs are we looking at, hp and torq wise?

My car is a 98' s70 glt auto with 160,xxx on it in case that makes any difference..

Thanks

Not sure what "hotter" injectors are, but I'm geussing he meant better flowing. Either way, the seller is wrong. The orange injectors are the same ones that came on your GLT. I'd say to make sure all the parts are from a T5 to make sure he's not ripping you off. Alot of people have made there LPT into a HPT with positive results. From what I hear, a LPT with HPT parts will be faster then a real HPT.

Orange injectors come on 850 Turbos. Red injectors come on s70 GLTs. White injectors come on s70 T5's.

But I agree with you that you should verify the source of the parts. Sounds to me like the parts might be coming from an 850 Turbo, in which case the ECU will cause some problems if you put it in your 98 car.

Orange and reds flow the same, and they don't put out as much as whites.

I'd recommend whites or blues (which flow the same), a true T5 ECU (he needs to send you the numbers on the ECU casing to make sure it is a true T5, auto, ECU), and a 16T.

I have an LPT block with a T5 ECU (during winter), a 16T, whites (since I usually run a tuned ECU) and the cars definitely moves better now than it did with the 13G and LPT ECU.

If you save a few pennies, keep your injectors, they will be fine with that ECU/turbo combo. I had that set up for close to 2 years before swapping injectors and the car never had issues.

Why do you only use the T5 ECU in the winter? Thanks.

Correct guess. :)

Yeah, it's an IPD stage II tune, the car hits 17 psi all day long with it and in the Fall and Winter, when the roads are slick, it's too tempting to drive the car hard. So rather than wrap myself around a tree, I stick with the stock tune.

So if my low pressure turbo is on the way out is there any reason, other than cost, that I would not want to get a 16T, T5 ECU, and 5 White injectors for a retrofit? What are the down sides? Thanks.

you can actually run the 16t with the red injectors but if you get a tune, you should get bigger injectors.
