I've just attempted a timing belt change on my 2002 S40 and I think I screwed it up. I think I slipped a couple teeth on the belt when I was trying to remove the crank pulley nut. At this point, I think it's best I just assume that the timing is not correct and try to adjust.
From what I understand, I need the 2 timing marks on the cam gears to line up with the notches in the front spark plug cover and a timing mark on the crank gear to line up with something at the same time. Where is this timing mark on the crank gear and what is it supposed to line up with?
My plan is to slip the belt off of the gears, get all the timing marks lined up, lock the cam gears in place and slip the belt back over into position, but I need to find the crank gear mark and what it is supposed to line up with.

Not that it will help you now, but I'llmention this to all who might read this when considering to do their own job. Always use some paint, white out, grease marker or what ever on all the notches when they are pristine before disssassembly. Makes this a whole lot easier when lining things up going back together if something moves.
Does this car have varible valve timing? I'm guessing it doesn't as there was no mention to take the cams 90 degrees past their mark and then bring them back into alignment, but they did show the use of a cam locker. If it does have VVT, go past the mark and come back. Can an expert please comment? I'm only familar with the 2001 and newer V70s.
