I Was looking for brighter bulbs for my 98 S70 without going to the blue ones.Looking at the bulb charts in the parts store they only list one bulb and no optional parts numbers.Anyone found brighter bulbs ,how much and did they cost and any problems with the wiring or the bulb out computer. My car was a New Hampshire before I got it and the sand and salt did a number on the headlight lenses so a brighter bulb would help.

You can get replacement lens and you don't have to replace the entire headlight assembly. IPDusa has the parts around $100. As far as bulbs go, Walmart, K-mart etc. all have H-7 type bulbs, just make sure what every you get they are not more than 55watts and you will be OK.

I prefer E-code (European) headlight lenses for better light distribution. Eurosport Tuning has them http://www.eurosporttuning.com/Merchant2/m...y_Code=hl-lense . FCPGroton has the DOT lenses at a good price and might have E-code lenses, 877-634-0063 .
There are Phillips and Osram (Sylvania) H7 55w bulbs available that put out more light than standard bulbs because of better gases in the bulb and more precise placement of the filament. I have very good results with both brands.

Slyvania Silverstars are brighter than stock... and you should get new headlight lenses if they are causing poor light spread.... night vision is key!

So my 98 V70 also uses H7 mounting? This may sound redundant, but just checking.
Thinking about PIAA Xtreme White Plus bulbs. Also, for 98-99 gen. 70 series, get the dealer to put new(!) C70 headlight lenses/assemblies (not sure which is needed) on. They're clear and look awesome. Even better than E-code.

A manual is the only real transmission. Tiptronics are pretenders.

I'm no expert, but I had the same question I posted about 2 weeks ago. Those 2003 C70 Diamond Clear lenses are the bomb. The feedback I got from my post and from IPD and Groton led me to believe that you need the whole assemby if you are going to use the clear lenses or light distribution will be horrible.I opted for E-code lenses from Groton.Came down to $ and sense.New C70 assemblies were between $6xx and $7xx.

Many folks I know have had very short life from the PIAA bulbs. Also, the light output seems to be aimed to a hot spot which seems to light the road better, but doesn't really do the job as well as well distributed light. Here's an article:

Interesting. So, anyone have any suggestions as to good headlight brands? Also, I live in Toronto and I'm having trouble finding online stores for lights in the area. I'd prefer not to have to order lights from out-of-province or country if I can.
