From the front it reminds me a lot of the new Mazdas for some reason

Posted Image
From the back I like that Volvo went dual exhaust. Makes the car look a lot more balanced. They were a little late with this but better late than never.

Posted Image
Interior looks like pretty much all other Volvos now

Posted Image
4 cyl

Posted Image
6cyl...... ok good start but its heavier than the 5, less efficient, and makes the same power. Reminds me of their V8. Unless you really need that torque I am not seeing it. The only mention to a 5cyl was for the diesel models which most of us will not get.

There are more images and info at Volvocars.com for those who are interested but I was wondering everyones thoughts as more picture come out.

I agree that it looks like a Mazda from the front. This look is going to have to grow on me, I cant say I like it very much.

At least they are still putting turbos on most of the cars still. They cant take that away from us!

are the 4 & 6 cylinder engines the only ones we will get? looking online there seemed to be a v6 gas, and two diesel options, but thats probably just for europe.

definetely want to see the interior in person, dash pad looks a little to plastic, but that could be the picture. from the looks of it they wont have one at the Chicago Auto Show. :(

Overall, it just looks cheap.
The interior is nice, but exterior leaves a lot to be desired.

Huh. Interesting routing on the air intake and clocking on the compressor housing on that 4cyl

edit: are there larger versions of the engine pics? I didn't see them with a cursory glance at volvo's website.

No thanks. I wish they would have preserved at least some aspect of Volvo's "curved" tails. The tailights on it look a lot like the new Passat/Jetta tail lights with the little "pointed" pieces on the trunk lid, and the emblem is a little too big for my liking.

At least the interior looks nice...kinda. But I think I'll stick with my pre-98 Volvos for now.

I wish they had not strayed so far from the original 2011 concept car they showed.

That would have been a sexy car - more like the Jaguar XF than the Mazda 6. :arob:

I can only imagine what people said when they first heard about the 850? "What no RWD, I want my Brick back, I hate rounded cars, Volvo is dead to me"

I like it's shape and the fact that they increased leg room for people in the back seat.

So we are going to get the 4cyl gas engine? I read Volvo publications that said we were....then we weren't... and then we were.

Anything but that goddamn short 6 is fine with me. What an over-engineered sluggish POS.

Overall I like the new 60, I hope there is some back seat room in this model. I'm curious what the new engine/transmission/drivetrain configurations will be.

I think we need to start placing bets on how much it's going to weigh.

I'm in for 4800

So the new S60 will be a thousand pounds heavier then the original one?
According to this unofficial website http://www.fastestla...olvo_S60_R.html
The old R with less power and weighing 3667 lbs did it's 0-100km/h in 6.3s
Where as this one with awd according to the article at Swedespeed http://forums.swedes...hread?id=134363
does 0-100km/h in 6.5s
so yeah it might be a little bit more heavier ~3700-3800 lbs

By putting the exhaust manifold like that, Volvo decreases the horizontal dimension of the engine by 1-2" (assumption from pictures). They then have 2 more inches in the 'design' to make feasible the safety features, i.e. 2 more inches of crush zone. If I was designing cars with my engineering degree not medical devices, I'd do the same... Sorry speed. Safety wins.

After have multiple episodes of deceased people being wheeled off to the morgue behind me while I take care of people in the E.R. Safety should always win before speed.

You realize my S40, one of the smallest cars Volvo makes, is 4300 without AWD...
