Well, I wasn't quite sure what to expect today. I was working on my car all the way up to tech inspection while waiting in line!

While it wasn't what I would have liked, it's still certainly respectable. Here's the slip...

R/T: .111
60': 2.149
330': 5.927
1/8 mile: 9.046
MPH: 78.96
1000': 11.751
1/4 mile: 14.040
MPH: 98.54

Car setup:
1994 850 Turbo wagon, automagic, 200k+ miles
TheLostArtOf ECU tune, 3" turbo back exhaust, Buggered frankenturbo, N/A cams, white (34lb) injectors
AEM TrueBoost EBC @ 16.3psi peak, 14.5-15psi stable
91 octane, 215/45/16 Hankook Ventus RS2
Removed jack, spare, and 3rd row seat.

I had actually removed the EBC yesterday, and put the stock solenoid back in...turns out the wiring circuit to the solenoid is dead I guess. I first tried my AC Delco unit which is about 2 months old, and I had no boost control at all (same as unplugging the actuator completely). Then I tried the stock BCS...same thing. So I had to re-install the EBC (thank goodness I brought it with me) while I was in line for tech. No time to dial in boost settings or even let the car adjust.

Had I been able to dial my boost in and run race gas, the numbers would have probably been a little better. But still, not bad, considering ~15psi and 91 octane.

No more track runs for the 850...time to get the 244 together and go for 12's. :D

Congrats! Pisses me off that I'm trapping higher and still in the 14's though.

Nice reaction time.

With the 19T/15psi/AWD the best I did was 14.7@93.93

I'm jealous that you can go to a track - it's gonna be at least a couple months before I can go around here. :(

All I know is I better break 100mph now that I can run over 20psi safely

No, I made up the numbers off the top of my head.

I just got home dude. I typed them out for a reason.

Thank you!!!

So, why do I keep hearing that my trap speed is so low for what I have done? I *did* run 98.2 with the 15G, but that was with ~17psi and 110 octane. This time I had less boost and 91 octane. I'm not quite sure what to make of it...just edumacated guesses.

My best R/T of the day was .089. I had 3 runs. First was a throw-away, this was the second, and the third was somewhere in the middle. ;)

Didn't mean it as an insult. I'm in the same boat as lookforjoe...gotta wait for the track to re-open here. Want to see how the K24 does on my car.

He was a tad flustered that a station wagon had just torn him a new one!

I wish you guys could have seen the S2000 "fastback" run 18.6 seconds. Bounced off the limiter in first, and then bogged the hell out of second...it took him SO long to run through 2nd gear it was ridiculous!!! The revs dropped so low, he may have even went from 1st to 4th now that I think about it.

I say fastback because a pair of them had matching hood vents, and these rear window body pieces that narrowed toward the back, making them look a LOT like a BMW Z4 tail end. They looked pretty cool.

Your car seems to die out up top a little bit, with your good launch and 60' that should be a high 13 second time. Your mph starts to die out in the 1/8th and by the 1/4 your a good 3 -4 mph low, which is the opposite of what the 19t should do <_< Not a bad run though, seems like you got good tires on there for getting a 2.1 60' out of an auto, best 60' i had with the 5-speed is 2.0
Sorry to all the people who are still trying to get their money back.

Fairly low...I'm at 10psi before 3k, if not lower. Problem is, I can't get it to actually hold the boost - and I have a new WGA too. The stock system seemed to hold boost better, but now the stock BCS setup isn't working and I'm not sure why. No matter how many solenoids I plug in, they don't work - it just run un-regulated.

Maybe a higher spring pressure WGA is what I need. The one I got was a brand new 11psi unit for an EVO X. I used an air pump, and set the rod to about 15psi. Running off the WGA alone, it will hold between 14 and 14.5 psi pretty much to redline from what I can recall.

But when I turn up the boost with the EBC, the "high psi" reached goes up pretty consistently, but then it fades and holds ~3psi below that number. So it seems that if I want it to hold 17psi, I have to set it so it spikes at 20-20.5...and I don't like that idea at all.

Not sure what to do to fix this. Maybe I should just pick up a 17psi WGA and forget about boost control all together?

I still think you have more to gain by playing with the cam timing. Not bad times, but should be a bit quicker with that setup.

Keep at it you'll definitely find more power.

Well, I figure it's good enough for a daily! At this point I'm starting to reach the point of diminishing returns.

It's time I left the DD alone, and started back on the track car. I've got to hit 12's before the end of the year! I'll still tweak and tune a little, but as far as the hardware is concerned, I'm pretty much done.

I'd take off the 19T just for safety sake then if your happy with a 14.0. I'm not trying to bust balls just giving an opinion, for the risk of the 19T's possibly boosting too fast too soon it may not be worth it.

I'd use that 19T on the 240

That has been the story of my life with my Volvo and seems to be for "many" others . I did everything!! new 18T, then a new WG actuator 12 months later, 10psi HD IPD CBV spring, FMIC, 3 different MBCs, Checked the Turbo for cracks, Checked to see that my cat was not plugged, new intake mani, Pressure tests, smoke tests ect ect and never could hold boost. I would set my car at 20psi and fall to 13-14psi everytime. So good luck!!!

I got pretty even boost levels using the LSP MBC

(this is back with the 19T / IPD tune) but... it's still fading at least 2psi :(

Posted Image

You may need to shim your CBV to make sure it's good for at least 20psi, that's the first place I'd look.

I have found that the Apexi AVC-R is much better for adjusting for boost spikes after shift, etc...

You can see how flat it is in this recent 4-5th run (black tracer)

and in this earlier harder accel run (hadn't fixed the feedback for 5th here)
