so what does everyone think on racial profiling? Something that's just common sense based on the fact that the percentage of crimes committed by minorities is the largest, or ignore the facts and be politically correct?

Heres my take. I am gonna pick on spanish americans sense you started this

OK: If a cop stops and searches a car full of Spanish Americans leaving a crack house and one of the guys was seen walking to the car with a gun. In FL there is nothing legaly wrong with that senerio. But I am ok with cops doing a stop under the guise of "probable cause". I also said stop, not beat down.

Not ok: Stopping a car load of Spanish Americans because they are in a rich neighborhood and there have been break ins lately.

well put, we have alot of issues w/ this and straight up racism here in the buck-huntin' south kakilaki, i shouldnt talk about this but at my store one of my employees had the stuff fired out of him for using a certain common yet derogitory term infront of another employee, who the term was directly offensive against. hwo stupid can you be, the guy is like twice his size too, im glad i didnt ahve to break up a fight.

I think a good definition to make would be the difference between sterotyping and racial profiling. Are we looking at the same thing? I think not.

Stereotyping: Seeing a beat up pickup-truck with 12" rims sticking way out of the wheel well, chrome, multi-spoke and small tires. You assume the driver is Mexican. If you live out here, you're probably right.

Racial Profiling: Per Mr Admin, stopping a car full of minorities in a wealthy neighborhood because of "probable cause."

yea... while there is a difference between stereotyping and racial profiling, in essence one is using their stereotypes to profile racially... in the end the same thing takes place.

Do you feel law enforcement agencies should be able to do so based on the fact that the largest percentage of crimes are caused by minorities?

No. Racial profiling is a violation of the most fundamental tenets of civil rights. That among those being personal liberty.

Abridging civil rights is never the answer. It's just fascism.

so in an airport, between 12 people there are 8 arabs and 4 spanish grandmothers... would you like to be fair and have 3 of the 4 hispanic grandmothers and 3 of the 8 arabs checked? that way we're fair

Oh gosh , that was so funny, I lauged so hard that everyone looked at me when I read it, although since I'm of hispanic heritage, well I don't want to see my moma cleaning up @ someone elses house:)

I'm sorry if this offends anyone but here are the facts: A group of several middle eastern men (mostly egypt born) took the command of several civilian jets on Sept 11, 2001. It wasn't Russians, it wasn't Colombians. The same etnic group was in charge of a previous attempt against the former World Trade Center in NYC, against several U.S. Navy ships overseas, and against several U.S. Embassies around the world, not to mention noumerous attempts against our allies. Are all midle easterners terrorists? No. Should ALL be cheked when entering an airport? YOU BET YOUR A$$! If you want to call that profiling go ahead, I'll call it SAFETY.

You know I used to work with some arab-americans @ my previous job, most of them college educated thru my parents tax dollars, and guess what their excuse was, "well I may have being in this country for 10,20 yrs; but My loyalties are with: Pakistan, Iran, IRak ect" Well if they like it so much over there LEAVE!

The answer is in your statement, "The bad guy", in the most receint cases has not been an American Citizen, so don't treat them like one. Heck american Citizens that have been convicted of a felony loose some of their rights, so why grant or assume people that are not citizens should have them.

In boot camp they did something I though was wrong, when one messed up all payed the price. In time I saw the wisdom, police your own. Until the the good guys among the Arab community start speaking out against some of their ethenic brothers, then they are part of the problem as well.

When the children of Arab familys(living in NY) are interview and express that what was done to the towers was good, there is part of the problem, they didn't dream that stuff up on their own, their teachers and parents had something to do with it.

I don't have the answers but until Grandma in a wheel chair starts causing problems she gets a pass. Is that fair, of course it is. Should only Arabs be stopped at the air port, unless you are an american citizen, and someone beside Arabs form the body pool for terrorists, yes.
