I have a map pocket from a 00 V70 and I'm putting it into a 98 V70. Took the old one off months ago and I cant seem to get the new one on <_<:monkey::unsure:.

Removed old unit by removing two glovebox torx screws, pulling front down, discon. footwell light, pulling whole unit down and out...

Removed knee bolster and right hand side bolster bracket. Compared the old and new panels, they have the tabs and holes in exactly the same place.

Inserted forward tabs into slots on AC unit (left) and bracket (right). Lift up but tabs don't seem to line up with holes where torx screws have been removed.

My question...WTF??? I know this is something stupid but I messed with it for 30 minutes and couldn't figure it out.

Thanks,

Michael

You've done all you can mechanically to allow you to install it, be sure no wires, etc. are blocking your path and try to have a little patience. :D

At first when I read the title I though you may have forgotten about the bolster bracket that need removed to install one but I see that is not the case.

Got a big cock? Let me see it!

I have refitted it several times and the tabs with holes ar nowhere near the holes inside the glovebox. It looks wonderful if I hold it in place (ie. it fits properly) but I would rather hold my coffee than the map pocket in the morning, and my throbbing temples after work . Perhaps it is time to consider duct tape and zip ties :o:ph34r:.

Hello everybody, My name I Michael and I am a MORON.

I took out the glove box and discovered the two screws I removed "to get the old panel out" were not (and were not supposed to be) the screws holding it in place. Pretty good reason the holes didn't line up...huh!

And...

There were no screws!!! I'll be damned if I know why that panel didn't fall down considering my shitty ass 1/4 mile dirt driveway full of ruts. The only thing holding it in place must have been the middle guide and pressure from the glove box. Took < 5 minutes to get it together including some unrelated wiring once I figured out the proper way to fasten it.

Anyway mystery solved and I really feel stupid...:monkey:
