Why does the driver side seat in the 850 have a wire running from the seat belt buckle to the seat cushion? There isn't a "real" seat belt warning lamp that tells you your belt isn't fastened, so why is there even a wire there?

Well, in my car, I found out recently that a fuse was missing that causes the dinging when you leave your key in the ignition and open your door, and also dings and turns on some lights when you start up your car telling you to put on your seatbelt. If you fasten your seatbelt before it's done doing the set number of dings, it stops. Perhaps that is the only reason that wire is there.

On newer cars the computer wants to know if the seat belt is fasten to determine if the air bag should go off. People with 1999 or newer Volvos should connect the passenger seat belt evern if no one is in the seat, so if you have a slow minor fender bender the passenger air bag doesn't deploy. wink.gif

So, will a 94-98 seat have the same "airbag safety" feature with that wire? I noticed the passanger side doesn't have that wire.
