A google search shows (2) distinct methods for removing the "VOLVO" badge:
1) Slide off
2) Pry off (tape)
Which is correct? I need to do a little paint work.

Use dental floss or fishing line. The badge is held on with adhesive/double sided tape.
The only thing that really "slides" off is the sidemarker (turn signals in the fender), except those are clip in.

I have never heard of the "slide off" method and after doing it on several 850s I don't even know how that is possible since the badges are clipped into a hole in the fender.
I let mine sit in the sun all day (on a warm day...not a sunny cold day) and then used the dental floss method. There is always going to be some tape left behind but that came off with something like Goo-Gone or even WD-40 and a little bit of rubbing. The whole thing took about 10 minutes per side and you couldn't even tell there was anything there.
I got lucky with my daily driver; the wiring for the turn signals was actually clipped to the back of the badges so I just plugged my side markers directly in, clipped the side markers into the holes and was up and running in no time. It makes the car look more contemporary and definitely catches people's attention when you are changing lanes on the freeway.
Good luck

You CANT slide the fender badges, there is a plastic section in the middle that fills the hole. Flat head prying the center of badge from underneath. You slide the TRIM off( fender, doors). Slide the trim towards the front of the car.

Now that I think about it the best luck I have had pulling badges is prying them off with the bone tool from IPD. I even used that to scrape a bunch of the tape off. That tool is a must have if you are going to work on cars. One lives in my car for when I am at the junkyard and one lives on top of my tool chest where it gets almost daily use.
