Last month I posted my problem to my '95 850 sedan with 98K miles on it with a rumbling from the front brakes when stopping from highway speeds and a squeal first thing in the morning. I had replaced the front rotors and pads and rear pads....the problem still remained. Most of you suggested the rumble was from bad front axle bearings, so I ordered a pair from FCP Groton. The day they came, I had left work and again heard the squeal as I left the parking lot, but this time a big truck was next to me and with my window down, I seemed to hear the squeal as an echo coming from the rears. I asked someone walking in the parking lot to listen and see where they thought the squealing was coming from. They pointed to the passenger rear wheel........Darn, not the fronts. I drove to a tire/brake store I frequent and asked them to check the run-out on the rear rotors....Lo and behold, the were both slightly warped and after they machined them, it stops just like new. No rumble and no squealing......I returned the wheel bearing and thought I'd share my surprising discovery with everyone who repsonded and read my problem.
I would never in a million years thought it to be the rears.....
Thanks everyone........
