The way I do it is to straddle the center console the best I can with the car in neutral or so, and then you pull up really hard, trying not to knock yourself out when it breaks loose.

I assume this is for an automatic?
does this break the shift knob being removed?
can the knob that is removed be reused?
With the knob off, can the boot be switched out?
I have a shift assembly sitting around from a T-5R and I want the wooden shift knob and suede boot in my 850R, but do I really need to swap the entire shift assembly?
