1977 Volvo 244, 4-Speed OD. Won't crank, won't jump start, will push start. Getting 13.5 Volts to battery when running and front lights intensity look normal. The connection from the remote start plug to the battery produces only a spark, but no crank. Years ago when the ignition switch was clogged and not working sometimes, I used the remote start connector to start occasionally, but not effective now. I'm wondering if it culd be one of the two small wires to the starter. If I short the two small solenoid connectors will I get a crank if the solenoid/starter are good? Any ideas?

bad starter?
the wire to the alt passes through the starter (on my 91 and 92, at least)... so if you're getting 13.5v while its running, i'd think the connections are all good...
