Hey all-
Allright, I have a '97 850 R wagon. I am getting this flapping noise (almost like a fan "flapping" against something. Ths sound is coming from the area of the driver's side headlight close to the radiator. I can not for the life of me figure this one out.

Once in a while it will go away and will also take a little bit to start making the noise every time I start the car. If it is making the flapping noise, I can turn the car off and turn it back on and it will not be making noise, but it will start making the noise withing the next 30 seconds. huh.gif

Please help me out on this one,
Tbone

Items in that area that make noise are the headlight wiper motors when they are stuck, grab the arm and see if it moves when the noise is happening. Another thing could be the Air Pump if you have one. If it's the air pump it shouldn't run more than 2 minutes.

Allright quick edit here on my post. The hose is coming from a black box above the radiator which is then connected directly to the front of the engine. Where does this hose go to and what is it?

Thanks - not familiar with the 850's, thi sis my first one and have about 12 240's and 740's
