To just pull the motor I'd guess they would charge 8-10 hours labor.

Just wondering if the original question is being answered... Is this how long it takes to pull the engine??? Or, pull it out then put it back in? 8-10 hours seems like a long time, three days even longer...

I think if they leave everything attached and pull it out all together, it should* only take 4-5 hours. It depends who's doing it.

A buddy and I took out his Turbo motor and trans in about 4-5 hours and that included dealing with an obstinate engine crane. It went back in better because we replaced the hydraulic cylinder.

How long it takes has nothing to do with what they charge. Pulling engines on a Volvo is not done a lot. How long would it really take, with a hot tech maybe 3-4 hours just to get it out of the car. Then all kinds of varriables come into play, like why did you pull it out?

Well my intention was to replace the tranny and rebuild my lower engine (new crank, bearings, rods, new pistons). So the task is to remove the engine and tranny out of the car then separate tranny and lower engine case to be send to an engine rebuilder.
Of course if I do it myself I know it will take for ever.

We dropped my friends engine and tranny out in two hours, just left the two together and dropped the sub frame, pretty easy, but for just the engine I would say 5 to 6 max if you have all the right tools.
