Soon I will be getting my car back from the east coast where it remained after i returned from school. I have 1000 miles left on my extended warranty and I was hoping that I could get some suggestions, ideas, or advice of things that I should do before I use the luxury of my warranty.

I was thinking that I should plan to get a reputable independant mechanic to do a full inspection and use that to get whatever I can replaced by Volvo before it ends.
You guys all know how I feel, I really don't what my warranty to end and then the next week or next month have something really expensive go out.

My car is a 1998 S70 T5 and right now has 95,000miles.
So far all routine maintenance has been up to date. Timing belt replaced at 74k, new brakes and rotors before I bought it. Replaced under warranty some sort of altitude sensor and some fuel sensor thing. I am sorry that I don't have the correct vernacular right now but I will check my records and post back. All else is basically small or non relative to major functionality, please help cause all is much appreciated.

Best of luck trying to get them replace anything. I found my warranties almost worthless for stuff that I really wanted done.

Well they are not obviously going to just replace anything that I demand them to, that would be a perfect world. tongue.gif But I am just looking for things that I should check or look out for and things that I can prove are in questionable condition and in need of replacement before they go completely.

Any suggestions? What were some of the things you tried to get replaced, maybe I can try my luck with the hounds? biggrin.gif

I suggest that you take it to a dealer and have them run it through their certified used car check.

My dealer will do that for 2 hours labor (add an hour for a compression test) and give me a two page written report. Some dealers have a copy of Volvo's certified car checklist on their web site.

If they do not find anything, you have some confidence that your brick checks out. If something bad happens, you can hose them, and maybe get them to help you with the repair.

Another extended would be pointless, for the money that I paid for the first one, I probably ended up saving $0 and spending more than what it was worth. Given I know it is a "what if" situation but if anything expensive goes out like tranny or turbo I will just upgrade. Besides I also have 0 money to spend on another warranty.

Kev, thanks for the suggestions I don't know how the ABS and TRACS is. I assume well, no obvious signs anyway. Anything I should look for? Thanks dogg.
