Hello I have completed my engine swap for my 96 850t5 wagon.I installed a 1998 S70 2.5Twith 70K in place of the 2.3 t engine [bad cylinder] with 246K.

I swapped the 1996 injectors , turbo boost controller and turbo to the 98.

I used the 1996 engine wire harness. The differences between them were few. the 98 wiring had a few less ground wires, a different type of knock sensor connection. I fixed that by swapping to the 96 knock sensors

I used the 98 computer and got a check engine lite. I then tried the 96 computer and no check engine lite. Yeaa!!!!

I had a lot of valve noise and I used some Marvel Mystery oil The next day it quieted down.

. The 98 trans worked fine. I will change/flush the trans after a couple of weeks to make sure all is well with it. Have tested it for 3 days now and all is well.

My mileage increased by a third. better power as well. 5 cylinders work better the 4 tongue.gif

After that I think I will will do a ECU chip.

im curious what you meant by 5 cyl works better than 4 since both engines are 5 cyl.

also, i assume you are still using 15g turbo. does power feel about the same?

dirty k+n cone + kevin's old ghettorigged heatshield (need to move onto slater's "ghetto" style setup)
bfg trac t/a 205/50/16s (pretty decent for a standard tire but they're no toyo)

I used the 15G turbo instead of the 13G that came with the new engine.

I would say power is about the same . It is hard to tell since I was driving with the bad cylinder for a while .

I think it wil be a lot stronger after I do the ecu chip. I have talked to SpeedTuning and they have a chip for this.
