i'm looking at getting these for my 850.

they say it will work, but i'm wondering about the little allignment bolt that sticks out of my rotors. these don't seem to have a hole for it. will i have to modify something?

i have the stock 195/60/15 on there now, but from what i understand 205/55/16 will not rub since i'm not planning on lowering. am i correct?

That alignment pin can just be unscrewed and removed.

In terms of rub, I'm not sure. You can read here to see what happens with 205/55/16 on an "R" suspension. I do not know if this will also happen at all with non-"R" suspensions.

Other than that it looks like you should be all set. Good find on the wheels!

hmm, according to that article, putting different wheel liners in would fix any rubbing. simple, right?

i don't know though, those wheels still have 5 days to go. could get pretty expensive. at least that gives me some time to think about it.

thanks.

anyone else here tried stock s40 16's on an 850 (non-R)?

im lowered with eibach's... running a 55 sidewall and i can tell you i rub.. its not anything major, but at full lock your guaranteed, or over bumps while turning.

I have a Volvo alloy wheel guide that has 70 different Volvo alloy wheels in it.

Of the 10 that are listed for S40, V40, NONE are listed for ANY other models.

NONE of the wheels are listed for as many models that show up in the "wheel fitment guide" in the eBay listing.

All the Volvo wheels listed in the guide have names. The "Solar", listed for S40, V40, is the closest to the ones shown in the ad.

The difference being that the pointed end of the depression in the spoke is pointed toward the center of the wheel rather than outward.

My guide is about a year old, and those may be Volvo wheels that fit all those bricks, but I would check it out. They may not be strong enough for your brick.

BTW - I read a good article on wheels the other day and it mentioned that the reason you see so many alloy wheels today is that typical steel wheels may break if they are used with the great brakes and high performance tires available today!

Our R model does have different wheel well liners than our base models have. They fit tighter to the structure of the car, giving more room.

Changing the wheel liners may be a bit more trouble than it looks, because they are part of the system that holds the front bumper in place. I have converted a front bumper on a base 850 to an R model bumper, and there were some alighment issues to deal with.

The bumper may sag if you do not get everything high and tight when you rivet the bumper to the wheel well liner.

It WOULD be a good time to mount an R model bumper when you change the wheel well liners!
