I am looking to paint my spark plug cover to match the rest of my motor. I have a few ideas but figured I'd throw something up here and see what you guys have on your cars or any suggestions. I have a CF one now and don't really like it. I may sell it soon. I am working with a black and red color scheme. I will be re-painting a standard stock cover. Also has anyone had any experience with vinyl on a spark plug cover?

you can get vinyl but you wont really have a smooth surface to work on, the raised letters cant be sanded down unless you patch where the letters used to be. Im headed in the same direction as TorontoR. Im just going to refinish the black for now, then do the tops of the letters in Red then do the raised parts in silver. If you do choose to somehow sand & fill to use vinyl or just use an area thats okay for vinyl you can clear it so that it wont peel up. Im clearing over mine. remember if youve never replaced your oil cap or have a shakey hand all the oil on the cover isnt going to hold paint well... clean the hell outa it. i use simple green an a tooth brush. scrub it rinse it scrub some more, with the water on it youll see where the oily spots are (similar to the gulf of mexico). with only doing paint, sand it up real good with around 400-600 grit (anything finer and the paint has a hard time sticking) then get some krylon fusion because its meant for plastics. do a coat or 2 see how it looks. if you want lightly sand it to finish it up. then after your happy with the results hit it up with a decent amount of clear coat.

stickers add 5whp per sticker
IPD stickers add 10whp
having the balls to put a my little pony sticker or a unicorn on = 25+ whp
care bear stickers = -10whp

I have the new cover sanded and cleaned. I wanted to put something on the side of the cover where there wasn't any lettering. Maybe the motorsports logo or something. I would be using heat resistant paint and would do a few coats then apply the vinyl after sanding with fine sandpaper finally heat resistant clear coat the stuff out of it. I did it with the throttle cover but no vinyl and it worked great .

Put a fresh coat of back and painted two red stripes on mine. Except I didn't think thwt through and the stripes are under the intercooler pipe :/

I just used black engine spray point and then some left over 601 red point I had.

Probably going to redo this before carlisle.
