I picked up a set of 1998 V70R front seats from the local Volvo yard for my 97 850. I installed the drivers seat and it plugged right in and the power options and seat heater work great. I didn't have to do any mods to it or modify the harness. I popped the pass seat in and no such luck. Even thought the harness connectors hooked up fine, the power options don't work. The seat heater works great. I have power to the seat, all four seat motors checked out with a power probe. The switch was double checked in another car and it's working.

Anyone else have any ideas or run into this issue. There are only three wires at the chassis harness and three wires on the seat harness (differing colors). My guess is that there is a relay somewhere not switching/recognizing the seat in the 850, thus the seat power option won't work.

Thanks

Did you originally have a passenger side power seat? Or was it a manual seat originally?

most likely you need to add 12v to one of the pins on the seat connector plug, i dont remember which one but you can just run a wire out one pin and into the one that needs power.

If you previously had a manual seat you may need to add a breaker under your fuse box cover. It is a polished looking one, 20 amps I believe.

Got a big cock? Let me see it!

Previous seat was powered. I will try the pin by pin approach. Thanks for all the ideas.

Currently swapping 98 V70R seats into my 94 854. it had all manual seats... but they were heated!

if anyone has experience/insight/knowledge on how to use the seat heater's pos/neg for the elec seat I would love that... and what's this about breakers?

Pop the hood, look at the fuse box. Remove those torx screws, remove the cover, and look at the silver shiny fuses. You have to add one.

There's a wire you need to jump

I can check under my seat tomorrow if you haven't got it.

This is what you need on an x70, not sure if 850 differs.
