So im currently at Foxwoods casino with the guys from work...two other techs, the president and CEO, and another business friend.

One of the guys started shit talking my car and I said to line it up. My boss says he'll put down a thousaaaannnddd dollars if I beat the 335i, owned by the CEO. It is bone stock with an auto tranny. Do I have the slightest chance? And from what speed? ...dig is obviously out of the picture lol

A roll should be pretty close, a dig would be possible on the street if he is too anxious at the line.

It'd be close. If you can take off from a speed that suits your gearing you could be slightly ahead if the race doesnt go on for too long.

Nope. Better start with a higher speed and smaller window ... maybe 70 - 110

Greg if you look at the 335x(i) on list it shows 300hp. But holy hell 300tq @ idle is going to destroy me lol. There's a mile stretch down the road from our shop...very wide, slightly down hill. Perfect for a 40 roll. All I need to do is hook well in 2nd and I should be fine. I just remembered that I was almost nose to nose with that '05 GT that I raced a while back with a catless straight exhaust, intake, tune and gears that put down 320whp...that is slightly relieveing. I could really use an extra grand right about now too.

I wouldn't do it. Trust no one, especially with a bet. By that I mean, he could easily have an ECU flash and you would never know until he seriously pulls on you up top. But you will never be able to prove it. If it really is stock, it should be close if you are putting out as much power as it says in your signature. His gearing advantage will take you up top though if you go for long enough.

Apples and oranges...
I'm sure that you know the power curve for a N/A is hella different than one from a turbo car. According to this article , the 335I makes 300 ft/lbs of torque from 1400 - 5000 rpms. Plus, its a twin turbo - so there'll be no turbo lag.
IMO, your best chance would be to start at a MPH high enough to minimize his significant advantage in torque. Starting anywhere from 50mph or less will = instant 1-3 car length pull for him. Then he can shut it down prematurely with the excuse that you wouldn't have caught him if he had stay'd in it.

Good point. What does your car trap?
It might be better odds if you go from a stand-still as opposed to a roll-race.

On the street, not at a track. If he tried to launch the 335 hard on the street its a guaranteed win as long as you just roll into it.

But the mention of trap speed was more for a rolling start comparison, in which they should be fairly even.
