hmm... to me that would indicate that something other that oil (possibly water, tho I don't want to jump to any conclusion quite yet) is getting into your crank.. sad.gif

I agree. Sounds like it may even be radiator fluid leaking in somwhere.

What type of oil are you using Cipriani? If it were radiator fluid, I think there would be terrible misfiring issues.

Gentlemen,
First thing that came to mind is what many of you have reported in this forum............sounds like it could be the residue from an additive like Auto-RX......

Definitely an oil additive, but not necessarily Auto-Rx. According to the motor oil bible, additives to engine oil make it foam. This is usually bad news because bubbles are displacing oil and thus the oil isn't lubricating parts as well as it could. Do a full oil change, drain everything out of the radiator too (check Bay 13) and see if the foam is still there.

The "Foam" or white milky stiff that shows up when the weather turns cold is Semi-normal. It's moisture, a oil change will help, and the short trips do not help. Don't dig into this looking for something wrong with your car.

Could you specifically define short trip rich. My work is about 4 miles away and college campus about 3.5.

That would be a short trip, any trip where the car just gets to warm up. The moisture in the block would get burned up with a half hour to hour trip. I use to have a Saab turbo and every winter it was white stuff on the dip stick, I'd change the oil and that helped.

A good long highway run with engine up to temp may temporarily get rid of some of the moisture.

I just read all these things here and I'm still very concernd about the foam I have..

Today I came home from a 1h highway trip and took a corner "hard".... the oil warning light came on so I checked the level (I know, will be wrong right after it was running). It was FULL of foam. The whole dipstick up to the top..

Even now a few hours later there is still foam AND the oil level is on the very low limit of the dipstick, almost non existent.

Where does the foam come from
Where is my oil
Would I be able to tell that it went into to "cooling water" by smell, look, feel?

Thank you
GnaeX

When was the last oil change??? and when was the last time the oil was checked? Why not change it and start fresh?...look for leaks while changing it and check it in say 500miles and see where your at? Or you could just put a headgasket in it just kidding)... biggrin.gif
