WOW i would have never thought of using those clips.... that is seriously perfect. what did you do about the corners of the lip? when i had mine on i just screwed it in, and used metal strips to hold it up. that is a great idea.

and about the ABM's... i like them a lot. but in a few weeks, or months, or maybe never... the bolts securing them to the rad support tend to wind themselves out... so your headlights will be bouncing all over the place. ask me how i know  but regardless, they look really good. anyone know the permanent fix?

Yes.

I like the contrast. A lip like that is good for curb and parking protection, would have repainted the scuffed front spoiler before you spent so much time with the paper clips though.

I picked a pretty circuitous route and arguably cheated slightly, but I'm going to get there

honestly it didn't take too much time. maybe 15 minutes. I am going to get an R bumper soon and this was just to hold me over.

They've been on for about 2 weeks. I haven't had to touch it and it's still solid. Washed the car today and they didn't even budge. I don't care how ghetto it is...no one can see them and it work! =)

it doesn't look the same as the lip normally looks. yours appears to have two lips where when you normally mount it it doesn't quite do that and looks more like one lip. Weird...

I have finally found a white x70 series car that I'm going to model mine after! Did you paint the vertical sections of your grill black too? It looks killer with that white border.

I really don't understand why people are dissing the clips. They've been on for a few weeks now with zero issues. I get the car up to highway speeds every day.
I used a combination of sizes of binder clips.

IMO this beats any adhesive solution AND doesn't require any drilling into your bumper.
Plus a box only costs $0.88 at walmart! I used 4 boxes.

If they were called automotive trim clips would it be more acceptable? They're just steel pressure clips...who care if they were designed to bind paper together.
Be innovative!!

Thanks!
The center of the grill (and the lower bumper inserts) are painted the same color as my wheels. Duplicolor graphite (wheel paint) + clear coat.
The surrounding grill trim is actually just plain white rattle-can from lowes then clear coated with duplicolor wheel clear. This yellows the paint just enough to match the 189 white.

I'm also interested in anyone who has a fix or who has contacted ABM about this. It's likely too late now for me since I've had mine for several years, but months after getting the, the main bolts that hold the housings secure became very loose as a result of the sleeve the went into not being properly secured within the housing. Mine don't bounce or rattle that much, but they're definitely is a bit of wiggle in them. Plus my corner lense is fogged up all the time.

Have you guys tried a light purpose blue or purple Locktight? We use it at work and they have all different kinds of strength levels. You may be able to buy some at a Home Depot or Lowes, we buy it from MSCDirect.com.
