Didn't really come as a surprise :P A couple of friendly runs on a deserted rural airport runway with a friend and his car:

Posted Image
Posted Image

We were pretty even from 1st to the top of 4th with both cars running 18psi, but after a couple of those runs he decided to show me what 2-step launch control and his 26psi track tune looked like. We both put on our Mickey Thompsons and prepared to give it hell. By the middle of second gear it felt like I was going backwards :P

His mods:
t3/t04e 0.48 A/R turbo
light porting on the intake manifold
Evo tubular exhaust manifold -> 3" back
48mm Tial external wastegate
AEM methanol injection @ 9 psi +
built bottom end

My mods:
iPD Stage III @ 18psi
Aquamist methanol injection @ 11 psi +
iPD bar + plate intercooler
A/C condenser/compressor delete
RIP kit
iPD 3" TBE
18T w/ 760 angle flange
iPD HD CBV
R manifold

t3/t04e 0.48 A/R turbo

Seems like a small turbo to be running 26lbs effectively or he has a really weak A/R on a larger 50trimish sized turbo..

it's funny because i was on the highway yesterday dicking around with a tiberon and we were dicking around till 70 and then i floored it for a second (100mph zone of course) and i heard a HUGE whine from the tiberon, a chirp, and then it flew past me as flames blew out of the tailpipe. i was like WHAT THE MOTHER FUCK.

I believe it's the latter..

I don't mind Tiburons really. Hyundai has come a long way. I'm not one to belittle them because I know very little about those cars, but I'm impressed at how well his transmission, axles and open diff have held up for the kind of power he's making. In fact, it may have just been his conrods that he upgraded..

Nobody really expects his car to be fast in as much as nobody suspects a thirteen year old Volvo station wagon to keep up with a G37 or blow the doors off a Mazdaspeed 3. I'm sure that someone somewhere on the interwebs on a Mustang forum started a thread entitled: "Lost to a Volvo Station Wagon.."

I was on top of the world, mashing on 370Z Wrx Sti G37 etc... Then a Scion Tc with a Gt35 Murdered me. He claimed 450 @ the wheels. But he was one of those kids with money that can barely change oil  And when I challenged him in the canyons he backed out. Mainly a straight line guy I guess.

Does he have a build thread on any of the forums? I am currently working on a Tib with my brother in-law so this is very relevant to my interests.

It doesn't have anything to do with Pontiac but even if it did... yes, yes it is.
