Does anyone know if first gen s80 front seats will fit in and 850? I have heard murmurs about s60 seats but never had a solid confirmation either way. Thanks in advance.

Hey hey! I did it in my '94 850. I got a pair of '99 S80 seats and managed to get them mounted in by swapping the bottom rail section between the two different seats since the floor mounts are completely different between the S80's and 850's. I have a few pics of them installed at home which I'll post up later today. It was a pretty easy job I'd say, about 30-45 minutes per seat if you know what you're doing, and only about 4 or 5 bolts to remove once the seats are actually out of the car. I also know that the the seats out of an '01 XC70 would work since I had some of those lying around too. Just so you know though, I never got the power wires hooked up completely, the seat would go back and forth and the bottom cushion would tilt and everything since the connector was the same for power, but the top portion never moved, lucky for me the top was in the perfect spot so it didn't bother me. Stay tuned for some pics! :P

What about the seat warmers, side airbag etc? Were they just left out?

Yeah they were, reason being that since the heaters were busted in the old seats I didn't miss them, (mainly because I didn't have enough time after work to try and figure them out) and my '94 didn't have the side airbags. So if the OP has a '95 or up 850, he'll have to either live with out the protection of the bags, or rig something up, because I think the early model side airbags used a physical "button" style triggering system while the newer ('98 and up maybe?) cars used an electrical sensor somewhere on the car.

Well actually I stumbled on a set of S80 seats as well and this thread just popped up, which is perfect timing. It's great that people have already tried fitting these seats in, I intend to try and fit these in my 97 854, but would want to have at least the seat warmers connected.

Not really concerned about the side airbags, more on the motorized back controls ie; tilting.

one other(and safer) way of doing it is by swapping the seat foam over to the old frames, that way you retain power and have a working mechanical airbag

That could definitely work, but that was too time consuming for me lol. I still have the S80 seats out of my 850 half assembled so I'll take some pics of the mounting points.

So I looked everywhere and of course when you actually need them, you can't find all of the pictures you need. I found only one picture that shows the S80 seats actually installed in the 850.

Below are a few pictures of the S80 seat that I still have after pulling it out of the 850 and swapping the 850 rails back onto the 850 seats I had. There are 4 bolts that hold the seat to the rail, two on each side. When you pull you're seat apart take note of where the old bolts were positioned in the 4 possible holes, depending on which hole you use you can adjust the tilt of the bottom cushion to a certain extent.

Below is the rail for the S80 seat. The red circles show where the rails mate to the seat. The picture with the red lines shows how everything lines up.

It's a pretty easy swap for just the mechanical part of it, but the wiring is where it starts to get tricky. I've looked for some kind of wiring diagram for the 850's and S80's and haven't found much of anything. I think this may become a more popular swap to do as time goes on and our 850 seats fall completely apart like we know they all do! :)

Good luck and let me know how it goes, and post up some pics if you do it!

Seeing how you got the power seat frame apart has me rethinking my recaro attempt...

on the manual seat, those 2 support beams are part of the base, removing them means no height adjustment. And that beams are screwing with my height (head vs sunroof lolz) whereas on the power seat it looks like i might be much better of than i had thought...

hmm
hmmmm

hmmmmmmmm

fantastic.
