Hi, went to check my oil level (leaks), I change it every 2000-2500 miles, and there was oil al over the intake manifold, but mostly only on the side closest to the dip stick(its a new dipstick)
Is there a leak somewhere on the dipstick and or tube? it was only on the mani, not on the fuel rail or near the "oil cover thingy" on top.
Is this a problem any have encountered? (not sure its a problem)

He suggests PCV because probably the oil is blowing out the top of the dipstick, maybe the o-ring at the bottom of the dipstick too. So if you keep driving it then you have to watch for (a) running too low on oil and (
oil leaks in less favorable locations like the rear main seal ($12 part, $1k at the shop to install).
(a) is easy enough, just check the oil.

you gotta hope the pressure due to clogged PCV is being relieved out the dipstick and the RMS is OK for the near term.
PCV does not supply oil anywhere, it just returns crankcase vapors to the intake. When it is clogged, the vapors have to vent somewhere else, like the dipstick tube or the RMS. So nothing vital is disabled.
I wouldn't push it, I'd order the parts Tuesday morning and do the repair next weekend. Two weeks if you must wait. OEM only on the hoses.
EDIT: oops I mean ( b ) but it came out (

Search and read about the PCV. Just a hint that zip ties are your friend! Also don't even think abotlut just cleaning it or you will be on there again in a week.
