I can still change my mind up until the day that I ship out.

I would love to do something with my life that involves cars or electronics. I would love to be a professional car detailer

Whoa, slow down now, don't set the bar too high. Professional goals should be at least reasonably attainable.

I picked a pretty circuitous route and arguably cheated slightly, but I'm going to get there

Actually, not the first time I have heard it. There are people who really enjoy doing it and you can make money if you are good.

Same goes for "I want to be an artist", but we all laugh just the same there. Well, except the artists who are going to be pissed when they read this and try and tell me life isn't all about money.

believe me, after having worked as a "professional car detailer" all it requires is labor. no brains involved. seriously, terry schiavo can do it.

the only benefit to that job was by the grace of SCIENCE! i got promoted to be a porsche tech.

car detailing is right at the bottom of the rung. do something better in life.

Somebody give me a face palm.
"Property is the fruit of labor...property is desirable...is a positive good in the world. That some should be rich shows that others may become rich, and hence is just encouragement to industry and enterprise. Let not him who is houseless pull down the house of another; but let him labor diligently and build one for himself, thus by example assuring that his own shall be safe from violence when built." - Abe Lincoln

I was in the Air Force for 12 years and my time in reminded me of a line from a Bob Seger song, "I used her, she used me and neither one cared." The military is going to use you, that's what it does. Go ahead and use the military right back. Do your job and do it well, but keep your head up and eyes open for opportunities that get you going the direction you want to go in life. Have your fun, but plan for your future, too.

And forget that advice you got about not screwing foreign women. Just don't screw trashy foreign women who look like they get pregnant easily. Get out of the states and fuck your way around the globe, young man. While you're studying, of course. You can do both. ;)

your not the first person to say this. since i really havent been following this... You have family who have done this? (and i dont mean your grandfather for WW2), if say your father has you probably already have a pretty good idea just living with him what its gonna be like. (also i dont mean he spent a year for vietnam)
