So since it's winter and I'll probably need to use my washers more I started looking for a small washer reservoir tank I could mount in the engine compartment. I couldn't really find anything that I liked, but I did have a spare setup from a V70. I had to tweak it a little, but it works nicely mounted on the divers side. No more smeared windshield :) ...

Wish I could get Methmix for $3/gall...

That's funny - I was just thinking of doing this so I could keep my WW resv. during the winter months... I'll have to figure out an alternative for the neck - my side mount battery will interfere with the install as you have it.

EDIT: You don't have the charcoal cannister on the DS?

The neck was tough. The original Volvo filler neck fits firmly in a flexible plumbing drain. Luckily this piece is hidden, but it looks something like this.....

My canister is in the rear. That may have started in '98, not sure??

Maybe sedans have the cannister in the rear ?- my wagon is late '98...

Your car has much less room in the rear with the AWD and different fuel tank. Volvo did eventually move the canister to the rear on the XC though.

DO you look for a specific range or just verify that there is indeed no pressure? Last offtopic question I promise.

Gary

I just make sure there is a vacuum. I've never seen it written anywhere, but I'm sure Volvo probably has a spec for what it should be ideally.

I'm thinking about going with a larger MAF, since I'm maxxed out at under 5k rpm's. I know others have done it, so obviously it's no big breakthrough :) I'm a little nervous about tuning for it, but I'll log my data and take it slow. Any advice is appreciated.

I was originally going to use a ME7 MAF since I had a good used one at the shop. I made a short subharness to plug into the stock harness and discovered as I was looking at the pinout information that the ME7 MAF needed a 5v reference to operate. So my plan was to tap into the TPS to get 5 volts and send it to the MAF.....

I was getting ready to install this setup, when into the shop comes a '97 S90. Wow same size MAF as the ME7 and the S90 is M4.4, so it's plug-n-play (with the exception of tuning for it :D ) Found one on Ebay for $25, so the price was right. We'll see how it goes.....

So in order to run the larger MAF housing you also need the sensor to go with the matching housing (ME7) or can you use the MAF that goes with your harness?

I think the most common way is to use the original sensor and epoxy it into a larger housing or a piece of pipe. The S/V90 is Motronic 4.4 so the housing is already bigger and the sensor will plug right in.

I wanted to see if I could use the ME7 MAF as is since I had one, and I think it would work with some minor changes. But since the S90 is the same size, will plug right in, and is cheap, I decided to use that one. You can't just plug it in and drive though, the car will run like crap. Tuning is a must.

Nice find Jeff. I used a 3" ID audi maf housing and jb welded the neck from my housing to it. This should be very usefull if there is an injector size that is the same percentage gain in relation to the ID of the housing...kind of like using a 960 maf and and 42lb/hr injectors on a redblock.
