This site is meant to be a free exchange of information, ideas, and yes, opinions. Doug has an ego. He knows it, we all know it. He likes to close racing threads arbitrarily, citing a lack of timeslips. Does he do this all the time? No. If it's one of his buds or a long time VS'er, he lets it go. Is this fair? No. Jake's right. Is it the way things are? Yes.
Am I flaming Doug for saying this? No. Doug is a nice guy. He's extremely knowledgeable about Volvos, and he's willing to share that knowledge with us. For that, I'm sure we're all very thankful. Is he the only one on this site with an ego? Hellllllll no. We all have egos. Everytime we post. So Doug is no different than any of us.
Everyone has their little quirks. We're all guilty of posting useless crap from time to time. I post stupid jokes in half of my posts. Kevin posts like the Internet is closing down tomorrow. Joseph, you post jokes a lot yourself. HPTJoe has a nack for pissing off people with his posts. Do I want him warned or banned? Absolutely not. This place wouldn't be nearly as interesting without him. The list goes on and on. Is posting an opinion or suggestion necessarily bad? No, it's not. As long as they're not attacking the individual personally. And this thread certainly is not. We're what make Volvospeed what it is. And if one starts arbitrarily throwing out warning points, then watch the site go downhill.
