my rims are a year old and the "chrome finish" is coming off and I've never scratched them or anything horrible finish. What are some good wheels that have a chrome finish that lasts? is HRE the company i'm thinking of?

sad.gif sorry to hear that but chrome kinda stinks anyway IMO. YOu should try painting them yourslef, it will be cheaper that way. But hey not every one is cheap like me hahaha. Good luck, Ubers rims are pretty sweet I must say.

Man, those wheels look pretty damm good on your car... I like 'em.. and I ususally hate chrome wheels.. If you really want to keep 'em, you can have them rechromed, it's expensive, but cheper than buying a new set. To save money on chroming, take 'em to and Industrial Chromer, not an automotive one. my .02

I would say see how much it is to get the rechromed, they are pretty sweet looking. In general they are cool looking rims, and if nothing else, paint them and use them as winter rims smile.gif smile.gif smile.gif(seems where you live there is no winter hehe)

FWIW, it costs anywhere from $500-$700 to have wheels chromed, depending on their size.

I'm not down for the rechrome, I'm just gonna get a nice light-weight wheel when summer time comes around. Any suggestions?

Yeah...ADR wheels are known for their cheap finish. They are pretty much among the lowest wheels in the echelon among the likes of Rota, Konig, etc. Basically, cheap wheels marketed to the Civic crowd. They are replicated to look like other, more expensive, quality wheels made by real tuners, and manufactured as cheap as possible to cut down on costs, thus being able to sell them for nothing.

Yours look pretty good though, Keith. If you want, you can get the same looking wheels, except made by Yokohama, which ADR knocked off. They are the Advan Model 5s, and the quality of them is top notch just like most other JDM wheels. Very light, too. But I don't know if they make them with a 5x108 P.C.D.

Ironically, my ex-girlfriend's father owns Golden Apple Corp., the distributor of ADR Design, along with Stern, NEX, Nitro, and RS Limited. Not a single one of his personal cars had any wheels from those manufacturers. He knows how shoddy the quality of those wheels are, but he really doesn't care. He made a killing selling cheap wheels, and to this day is one of the largest distributors of wheels in the country. He was a fan of HRE and Fikse, himself. smile.gif

Keith, if it's HRE you are thinking of, those are definitely the wheels to get. They are arguably the best money can buy among the likes of CCW, Fikse, Kinesis, etc. They are custom wheels made to order and can be had in literally any way you want them. Look to spend anywhere from $3,900 to $5,800 for the wheels alone in Volvo fitments. And that's without any options...

You get what you pay for, especially with wheels.

I've had no problems with my RSL rims. They balance fine and don't have any cosmetic issues. They're by no means the same quality as HRE or someone like that, but I'm a college student living on a diet composed largely of Ramen noodles and PBJ's. Hell, I'd love HRE rims just as much as the next guy, but until my pocketbook gets quite a bit fatter, I'll have to stick with what's affordable. I may however, upgrade my rims in the future. It's just not my priority.

I believe the pic Joe posted is of ADR Rims. They are knock-offs of Yokohama wheels. I'm sure you can get them at Discount tire.

OK, they are Yokohama wheels. I need to defragment my brain or something. Still, they look good and I'm sure you could get them at DT.

Yes, the picture I posted was of the Yokohama/Advan wheels. ADR then made a knockoff of it and sold them for cheap. They look similar, but you can still see a quality wheel when you look at it.

Here are some pictures of the Advans on an NSX I took last weekend...
